Valuations Assistant Manager / Manager
We are looking for Valuations Assistant Manager or Manager to join our growing Corporate Finance team.
The Valuations team sits within the Corporate Finance department as one of three streams (Mergers & Acquisitions and Transactions Services being the other two). As a team, the Valuations specialism has grown exceptionally in the eighteen months since its original inception to comprise 6 people, within a wider team of c. 20 people. As a department, we focus on creating trusted and enjoyable working relationships with clients, contacts, and colleagues.
Role Overview:
To be responsible for executing a full suite of valuation engagements, including for tax, contentious, commercial, and financial reporting purposes. The role will also involve some degree of managing, coaching and assisting junior staff, building relationships with clients and intermediaries, creating high quality written output and reports, and communicating with clients.
There will be exposure to clients from a wide range of sectors, along with a variety of engagement types as we look to build out our offering further in the financial reporting space (including intangible asset valuations / purchase price allocations and share options), tax valuations, commercial and indicative work as well as in contentious / expert witness areas.
For the right candidate there exists a clear career path in a relatively new team that is looking to expand quickly.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform valuations of shares, businesses, intangible assets, share options and certain other business assets.
- Planning and carrying out assignments to a high standard, taking ownership of your work and running every assignment in accordance with the firm’s and the profession’s professional and ethical standards.
- Liaising with clients to understand value drivers and obtain relevant information.
- Understanding and responding appropriately and proactively to client needs.
- Developing trust and good relationships with clients and referrers.
- Preparing valuation reports and communicating any issues in a timely manner, either within the team or with clients as appropriate.
- Briefing, supervising and reviewing the work of junior members of the team where appropriate, providing coaching and constructive feedback and support as necessary.
- Taking ownership of many aspects of project administration, including client take-on procedures.
- Assisting with pitching and the preparation of proposals, including scoping and providing fee quotes.
- Be willing to engage in networking activities, as well as join Team-on-Team events with law firms and other third parties when organised by senior members of the Corporate Finance team.
- Take a proactive involvement in other business development pieces, such as preparation of research pieces for external circulation.
- Keeping team members regularly informed of progress on assignments.
Skills and Experience:
- ACA/ACCA/CFA qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience of performing share & business valuations in a variety of contexts
- Experience of share option valuation methodologies
- Experience of performing purchase price allocations
- Willingness to lead on drafting reports and proposing initial views on value
- Strong Excel / modelling capabilities
- Ability to contribute to client meetings
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using S&P Capital IQ database and excel plug-in.
- Ability to articulate complex technical information both verbally and in writing
- Able to work on own initiative but also together as part of a team
- Commercial mindset; have an ability to recognise cross-selling opportunities and develop sound professional relationships

- Displays ethical judgement
