Valuations Manager
We are looking for a Manager or an experienced Assistant Manager to join our Valuations (Corporate Finance) team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team.
The Valuations team sits within the wider Corporate Finance service line alongside the Mergers & Acquisitions and Transactions Services sub-teams, and collectively we focus on creating trusted and enjoyable working relationships with clients, contacts, and colleagues. The Valuations team is little more than two years old but already four staff strong and is looking for its fifth member to play a key part in the delivery of a range of valuation types to clients of varying sizes and complexity.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a manager or experienced assistant manager to be responsible for executing a full suite of valuation engagements, including for tax, contentious / litigious, commercial, and financial reporting purposes. The role will also involve some degree of managing, coaching and assisting junior staff, building relationships with clients and intermediaries, creating high quality written output and reports, and communicating with clients.
For the right candidate there exists a clear career path to progression and high visibility in a relatively new team that is looking to continue its very strong growth trajectory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform valuations of shares, businesses, intangible assets, share options and certain other business assets.
- Planning and carrying out assignments to a high standard, taking ownership of your work and running every assignment in accordance with both the firm’s and profession’s professional and ethical standards.
- Liaising with clients to understand value drivers and obtain relevant information.
- Preparing valuation reports and communicating any issues in a timely manner, either within the team or with clients as appropriate.
- Briefing, supervising and reviewing the work of junior members of the team where appropriate, providing coaching and constructive feedback and support as necessary.
- Assisting with pitching and the preparation of proposals, including scoping and providing fee quotes.
- Engage in networking activities, as well as join team-on-team events with law firms and other third parties when organised by senior members of the Corporate Finance team.
- Take a proactive involvement in other business development pieces, such as preparation of research pieces for external circulation.
- Keeping team members regularly informed of progress on assignments.
You are the right person for the role if you have:
- ACA/ACCA/CFA qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience of performing share & business valuations in a variety of contexts
- Experience of share option valuation methodologies
- Experience of performing purchase price allocations / intangible asset valuations is desired
- Whilst not a necessity, experience of undertaking financial modelling assignments (in a valuation context or otherwise) will be a plus
- Willingness to lead on drafting reports and proposing initial views on value
- Strong Excel capabilities
- Ability to contribute to client meetings
The successful candidate will able to work on their own initiative, possess a commercial mindset; have an ability to recognise cross-selling opportunities and develop sound professional relationships.
We have a firmly embedded approach to flexi-time and support flexible working opportunities to help you manage your work-life balance.
