Accounting Associate (Industrial Placement - September 2026)
We are looking for highly motivated students to join our September 2026 intake for a year‑long Industrial Placement in our award winning team of specialists in our Regulatory Reporting team.
Team Overview
Our Business Services team is one of Buzzacott's largest teams, with around 70 people providing specialist support to a diverse range of businesses and charities. The team delivers a broad range of outsourced services, including management accounting, VAT, payroll, company secretarial and regulatory reporting, and has a strong training ethos with a focus on developing individuals who want to build a career in accountancy.
Sitting within Business Services team, our award winning Regulatory Reporting service line has been supporting FCA regulated firms for over 25 years. The team works with a wide range of financial services clients, including asset managers, investment firms, hedge funds and payment firms, helping them navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment through regulatory reporting, prudential reporting and advisory services. With a reputation for technical excellence and outstanding client service, the team takes a collaborative, relationship-led approach, acting as a trusted extension of its clients' businesses. Joining the team offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist regulatory knowledge, gain exposure to a diverse client portfolio and learn from some of the industry's leading regulatory reporting experts.
This placement role is due to commence in September 2026.
The Role
This is a practical, learning focused role. You will learn on the job, gaining real world experience working alongside experienced specialists. You will not sit professional exams during your placement year, but you will build the foundational skills and knowledge that could support a future training contract should you choose to pursue a career in tax or accountancy.
Training will include structured on the job learning, internal workshops, and support from managers, senior colleagues and our Learning & Development team.
This placement could be the first step in your career with Buzzacott, with successful students often progressing to our graduate programmes after completing their degree.
What You’ll Be Doing
Support the Regulatory Reporting team in delivering services to FCA regulated clients.
Carry out all work in compliance with the firm’s and statutory procedures.
Prepare prudential FCA regulatory returns.
Apply AI tools to processes to enhance efficiency.
Learn by way of technical reading of upcoming regulations for asset managers.
Recommend improvements to the clients’ systems and controls and assist clients on an on-going basis
Keep Seniors, Managers and Partners informed of the progress on the team’s jobs.
Budget for your time and keep costs within budget wherever possible.
Assist in the administration of the Business Services team as and when requested and when time allows.
Be proactive and take responsibility for becoming fully familiar and confident with all the firm’s IT policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance and to helping to promote these policies within the firm.
Take an interest in the affairs of, and get to know, the clients so that you are aware of current work being dealt with by the Partners, Directors and Managers.
Liaise with staff and clients (as required) and aim to further good relations and promote the firm’s image and services at all times.
What We’re Looking For
Working towards a 2:1 degree, with your first year achieved.
144 UCAS tariff points from 3 A-levels, or equivalent, including a Grade A in Computer Science, Economics or Maths.
Level 8 (A* grade using the old system) in GCSE Maths and English Language, or equivalent.
Competence with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
The right to work in the UK without restrictions for the duration of the placement.
Please note we do not accept General Studies.
