Tax Disputes & Investigations Graduate (September 2026)
We are looking for a graduate with an enquiring mind and sociable disposition to join our September 2026 intake of trainees in our Tax Disputes & Investigations team.
Team Overview
Our Tax Disputes & Investigations (TDI) team are an award-winning team recognised for technical expertise and an emphatic approach to clients' cases.
The TDI team are the go-to experts on tax investigations and dispute resolutions, helping clients with all their communications with and representations to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). Clients trust us to robustly defend disputes on their behalf, so it is important for us to build a lasting relationship founded on honesty and integrity.
This role is due to commence in September 2026.
Role Overview
Within the office, you will be supporting the existing TDI team with their portfolio of HMRC investigation cases. As you progress through your training, you will take on and manage your own portfolio of work, always delivering a quality and professional service to clients.
In addition, you will also be responsible for several core administrative duties that allow the TDI team to operate to maximum effect so we can best represent our clients.
Training consists of a uniquely designed study programme incorporating HMRC inspector training designed by the TDI Team Leader/Partner, together with Association of Taxation Technicians (‘ATT’) exams and Chartered Tax Advisor (‘CTA’) exams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting TDI team members by attending client meetings and taking diligent notes of key facts that will help more senior TDI team members to formulate appropriate case strategies.
Arranging for the preparation of tax returns, capital gains tax computations and other tax compliance work, liaising with other Expatriate/Private Client/Business Tax team members as appropriate.
Assisting with the drafting of Letters of Engagement and Proposals of Work.
Communicating/Negotiating with HMRC, as appropriate.
Assisting with the submission of appeals/applying for ADR mediation where applicable.
Drafting letters and reports to HMRC, as appropriate.
Recommending improvements to clients’ records, systems, and practices, as and when needed.

What We’re Looking For
2:1 Degree
120 UCAS tariff points from 3 A-levels, or equivalent.
Level 6 (B grade using the old system) in GCSE Maths and English Language, or equivalent.
MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
The right to work in the UK without restrictions for the duration of the training contract
