We are looking for a Payroll Officer to join our specialist Payroll team.
Team Overview
We’re an approximately 70-strong division of the firm’s Business Services team and we’re dedicated to providing the full complement of outsourced services that covers accounting and other administrative functions such as management accounting, financial statements, VAT and regulatory reporting for clients in the finance sector.
Within this wider structure sits our specialist Payroll team of 9. We work closely with colleagues across Business Services, creating opportunities to build strong, collaborative relationships throughout Buzzacott. We are looking for an individual who wants to develop a long term career in the specialist payroll service we provide to our clients.
Role Overview
To provide a wide range of support as listed in the duties below, as well as the processing and administration of monthly payrolls for a set of clients, ensuring a professional & responsive service is always provided to our clients.
What you will be doing
• Process client payrolls accurately and in a timely fashion, in accordance with payroll procedures and using the software designated by the firm.
• Take ownership of a portfolio of clients with an expectation to meet with the client as and when required, including attending meetings at clients’ premises.
• Prepare monthly payslips for client employees and directors and submit these in accordance with the requirements of the clients.
• Assist the Client Payroll Managers/Director to make such arrangements for the payment of client payroll wages, salaries and statutory payments as are required by agreement and statute, in a timely fashion.
• Comply, on behalf of clients, with all statutory filings within the deadlines set.
• Prepare Year End returns for clients, including P60s and P11Ds, ensuring that all correct forms are completed and submitted by the appropriate deadlines.
• Prepare schedules to ensure that all information is received on time and passed to HMRC before the deadline date.
• Assist with advice and guidance, answering queries arising from the Payroll Assistants.
• Review other team members’ payrolls before submission to the client.
• Assist partners and managers in the Business Services team in attracting new work to the team.
• On occasions, provide information and training to clients on the application of certain software and provide back-up support if required.
• Keep up to date with payroll standards and developments within the profession. Take responsibility for attaining the requisite CPD each year and for maintaining records of CPD to provide adequate details to the firm’s Human Resources department for purposes of Regulation.
What we’re looking for
• Sound bureau experience
• STAR payroll Software experience is preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Respond in a timely manner to client emails/needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good customer service skills and professional telephone manner
• MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Reliable; discreet; ability to multi-task; approachable; good attention to detail; ability to work unsupervised; displays ethical judgment
