Financial Accountant
This is an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to support a growing area within our Business Services team.
We’re an approximately 70-strong division of the firm’s Business Services team and we’re dedicated to providing the full complement of outsourced services that covers accounting and other administrative functions such as management accounting, financial statements, VAT and regulatory reporting for clients in the finance services sector.
The Role
To provide quality accounting services to clients within the Business Services Team, with a focus on financial reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS. The role supports the development of a growing service line within the team, concentrating on technical financial reporting.
What you will be doing
- Managing a growing client portfolio, as well as carry out all accounting work for a wide range of profit-making organisations in accordance with the firm’s and statutory procedures. This will include planning, executing, completing and producing client-ready product independently and with minimum supervision.
- Prepare financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Prepare detailed consolidation workings for groups to support the financial statement preparation process.
- Support year end process through liaison with external auditors in a timely and professional manner.
- Research, draft and respond to client technical queries covering IFRS and UK GAAP corporate reporting matters, working both independently and supporting senior team members.
- Developing and maintaining an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading, research and appropriate development and training requirements.
- Liaise with clients continually on topics including communicating job status, resolving technical queries and seeking required information relevant for the financial statements.
- Potential to maintain a small portfolio of clients that require monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT reporting.
- Delegating, supervising, and reviewing the work of junior members of the team, providing feedback and support as necessary, including being involved in the development of junior staff.
- Understand the specification of the assignment agreed with the client and report immediately to the Manager (or Partner) if and when this specification may need to be changed.
- Support the Manager and/or Partner with client pitch documentation and meetings.
What we’re looking for
- 3 A-levels (or equivalent – with a minimum of 120 UCAS points)
- Good GCSE results with a minimum of grade B/level 6 in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- ACCA or ACA qualified
- Experience of preparing statutory accounts and management accounts
- Knowledge and experience of UK GAAP, specifically an understanding of FRS102
- Knowledge and experience of IFRS (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills
- Client facing experience, preferably within the financial services sector
- MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Accounting software knowledge and experience – Sage, QuickBooks or Xero (desirable)
- Advanced Excel skills (desirable)
- CaseWare (desirable)
