Private Client Tax Manager
We are looking for an experienced private client tax manger to join our Private Client team and provide excellent services to a range of clients.
Our trusted team of just over 30 people, including 4 Partners, work with individuals and their structures on some of the biggest financial decisions that they may face. The core of our work focuses on advising on the assets of an individual, family or business, and assessing the opportunities available to them, minimising their liability. Many of our clients use Buzzacott for other services, so there is the opportunity to work closely and build relationships with your colleagues in other teams around the firm and within our PrimeGlobal association.
Role Overview
To develop and manage a portfolio of private clients’ UK tax compliance and advisory needs, with varied levels of responsibility, delivering a high-quality personal service to clients, the Partners and other members of the Firm.

Key aspects of the role include:
- Act as account manager for a portfolio of clients within the Private Client Team.
- Monitor and manage the progress of all assignments relating to your clients’ affairs.
- Take responsibility for the review process of all work regarding the client’s affairs taking appropriate account of the level of staff completing the activity and the degree of complexity of both the assignment and the client’s affairs.
- Liaise with the senior team members in connection with the management of your client portfolio to include the monitoring:
- of the recoverability of chargeable hours on client assignments;
- of the work-in-progress levels on client assignments;
- of billing targets; and
- the timely completion of compliance assignments on the annual Tax Return programme.
- Support the development of more junior team members and assist as necessary with monitoring of work and progress being made and help to resolve any problems and difficulties being encountered. Provide timely feedback on work matters and reviews.
- Develop, train and support personnel in technical and practical matters in all fields of technical and commercial areas.
- Take responsibility for supporting and training staff in Coimbatore, India, ensuring consistent procedures are followed.
- Carry out one-off projects as and when required.
- Be competent in all levels of personal tax (as far as is reasonably possible in today’s environment), be aware of available planning opportunities for the Firm's clients, and be able to recognise those overlap situations where other teams in the Firm need to be involved with a client’s affairs.
- Develop new client relationships from your relationship with existing clients, from business contacts and other appropriate sources.
- Assist in establishing new work on your client portfolio in proactively looking at aspects of financial and wealth planning, inheritance tax and other planning opportunities.
- Assist in the team’s initiatives in business development opportunities as required.
- Participate in presentations and/or pitches to potential new clients.
- Consider possible new lines of business to increase the client base of the team.
You are the right person for the role if you:
- ATT/CTA qualified, or ACA qualified, or equivalent
- Experience of reviewing, preparing and filing UK client returns
- Full knowledge of tax matters relating to private clients
- Have the ability to review other people’s work and assess more junior team members.
- Excellent networking skills.
- Enjoy supporting and developing more junior team members.
- Have the ability to build great rapport and relationships with colleagues, team members and clients.
- Are committed to expanding your personal tax knowledge and experience.
